Hi, i´m bored

I had never liked the way in which English is implemented in this university. I fell that during all these years I have learned very little, it has not been something profitable for me, I want to be honest. I think we have to find a way in which this subject is less boring for everyone, because at least that´s what my friends and I feel. I even think I could learn English better by reading instead of attending classes. For example, the way I use English is usually reading books from differents subjects. When I had Systems Physiology a year ago, the bibliography was in english; now in Pharmaceutical Physicochemistry, the books are also in english. The use of blogs is one of the few things that I liked about this branch. I think this is a tool that helps us improve our grammar and learning, although I personally believe that I am missing to many things to learn. I think it´s important to make changes in the study programme, for example, "Quality Management", which was a fifth year subject, in the new programme this subject was implemented in fifth semester and did not give good results, so I think that this subject should be implemented again in the fifth year. I also think that there are subjects that should be added more hours of classroom and other subjects should be taken hours. My career is quite long, but I do not think it´s a bad thing, because if the career were shorter the workload and length of studies would increase too much, and these are already very high. How I just said the workload is quite high, but it seems good that is so, because in this way we will be more qualified professionals. What is your opinion about having an exotic pet at home? Is an interesting topic to analyze, because exotic pets require special care, such as different food than usual or an environment adapted to the needs of the animal. People should be very careful with these types of pets, because they are very sensitive. I believe that people could have some kind of exotic pets in their homes, as long as these people are committed to giving them the greatest possible care and obviously pets can not be a danger to those who are nearby. Hello, in this time I will talk about my favorite T.V serie. Like many people I love The Simpsons, this is my favorite T.V serie since I was a child, everything was thanks to my uncle, because he also saw them. I have been study chemistry and pharmacy for 3 years now and I would like to continue with some studies after graduating in this same University, because I think this is a greate place to continue my learning.  I feel that for me a Ph.D is not so necessary, because I do not want to devote myself to research, or that is what I think now. I plan to study a specialty of my career. The name of the program is professional degree specialized in clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care. In this specialty the pharmaceutical chemist in directly envolved in the therapeutic treatment of patients. Pharmaceutical chemist must work and collaborate together with the doctors.  Ideally, this course should be part-time, because this course is very expensive and I have to work to pay for it. Hello, the kind of job that I like to have is related to my career. I study Chemistry and Pharmacy and in the future I would like to work in a hospital. I imagine that is very different to work in a pharmacy, because work in pharmacy is monotonous, every day pharmaceutical chemist have to do the same. Working in a hospital is very different, because every day there are new situations that have to be solved in some way, and that makes it very entertaining. Working in a hospital is a indoor job, but it does not necessarily mean that you work in a enclosed place. It would be interesting to travel to others hospitals in Chile or another country of the world, to learns the systems they use in these hospitals and also to help improve these. I really don´t know how much they pay in hospital, but in general pharmaceutical chemists make enough money in all areas. In my career nanotechnology is very important. Recently, a professor who is a pharmaceutical chemist (I study this career), through nanotechnology began looking for a cure for cancer. Using curcumin, that is the active principle of curcuma, he managed to destroy cancer cells, but unlike chemotherapy, curcumin does not destroy the good cells, but kills only the bad ones. I really like this topic, because I´m very interested in helping to take care of and improve the health of people. Felipe Oyarzún,  the professor who discovered this, worked with curcumin because all cancers start with inflammation, and curcuma has anti-inflammatory properties. The impact that this discovery could have is enormus, because it would mean the end of a search that lasted many years. My favourite pet was an particular and little animal, but it was very smart. My pet was a guinea pig and he died several years ago, because he was attacked by a cat and that caused him a serious infection. He´s name was "Sunday", because I put this name on a Sunday and I could not think another more original name. My uncle gave he to me in my birthday, 10 years ago, in 2008. I was very happy with he and also he was happy, but the first days he was very scare, because he was very small and he did not  know me. As the day passed, he began to eat a lot and was getting bigger until it no longer fit in its cage. Next to, my uncle gave my a bigger cage, and "Sunday" was happy with this.  Every afternoon my guinea pig ran around the yard, and when I whistled him he came running. My best holidays was in january of 2016. Then I went to the south of chile, specifically to Lican Ray. Well, really I stayed here and from here I went to many places of south of the country. I went to Panguipulli, Coñaripe, Villarrica, Pucón and Caburgua. This holidays were not very long, but neither short; I stayed here for 10 years in a house in Lican Ray with my grandparents, uncles and my mother, and it was very funny.  The first day we arrived to La Araucania´s airport, and  here we rent a car and went to Lican ray, but in the road we had many problems with the car, and we had to change this. We spend a lot of time with this problem, but finally we achieve arrived to Lican Ray. The first day we only got to rest and go around the town a little, and also we had to go to a restaurant here. Well, ever I  would like to visit Italy because it have a beautiful and incredible architecture, and its interesting learn about this places and imagine everything that happened there. Also I like Italy because it have an delicious gastronomy and I love Italian food; my favorite food is lasagna and obviously I love pizza. Italy is known to all thanks to, for example, Pisa´s Tower ( in a city called Pisa, not pizza), also Italy have Roman Coliseum, and this is a very important attraction of this magnificent country, among many others. Well, to be very sincere this activity has not seemed quite funny to me, in fact I found it quite boring. Something that seems important to me to emphasize, is that this activity has served me to improving my writing, and I believe that my companions have also helped them. Now that this language has become fundamental to perform professionally, it is essential to know how to speak it, and the first step to this is to improve the quality of writing. What I would like in the future is that students can choose the theme of each blog, as it has been in the last activities. It seems good to me that a minimal amount of words is required for each blog, but it seems unnecessary to have to comment on each other´s blog, I do not see what is the objective of that. Despite how boring it has sometimes been, I am grateful for an attemp to innovate with this type of initiative, and I believe that we must continue to try new things to enhance learning. I did not really plan my holidays (winter), because I do not even know when I will leave university, but with some friends we wanted to go to the snow, probably to  the reservoir "El Yeso", although we have not decided yet. Something I have to do is go and look after my uncle´s apartment for a week. What is my favourite subject? I haven´t doubt answering this question, because definitely my favourite subject is Cellular Phisiology. I have always liked things related to biology, and I always knew  that I would study something related to this. But there is also a subject that I hate with all my soul, and it is Calculus. The phisiology classes are quite extensive, and the professor gives a lot of information. Unfortunately I can´t attend to this class, because the chemistry seminar is on the same schedule, and I can´t miss to this. Well, this site is not specifically my career, but it has helped me a lot in a subject called "Research for the Pharmaceutical Sciences"; this site is called PubMed, and the link is www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/. This site is a free search engine accessing primarily the MEDLINE database; is a very useful tool for the search of papers, which is the main use I have given. Lately I have visited this site a lot, because I had to prepare a report based on the paper I will find, about changes in the pharmacokinetics of vancomicyn in burn patients. To search paper, you have to enter keywords in the search engine, and a large numbers of papers will appear, begin able to use filters to do a more specific search. I found papers that are really very interesting, and how they are write in English, I could understand better this language, and that´s why I like this site. I do not have many hobbies, but I like ping pong and cycling. My whole life I have been riding my bicycle, especially in the mornings. I have not been able to do it for a long time, because I have very little time, but I still like it. I like to ride a bike in the Bicentennial Park, of Cerrillos obviously because I live there, not in Vitacura.  Pin pong is a sport I hated when I was in the school, because it was very difficult for me, but this changed radically when I went to university. Last year I played by chance again after a long time, and I realized that I did not play as badly as before, I even played well. Now, I tried to play with my friends once time in the week, usually on Fridays.  I like ping pong, because it is a game that requires a lot of agility and patience. Besides, it is one of the few sports that I like to practice. I really do not know who took the picture, but I really like it. This photo shows an awesome thunderstorm in Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, in March 2015. This time, the electrical storm affected much of the central Chile, especially the coast of Valparaiso region, and it was very strong and beautiful (at least for me).  The image of the rays falling to the sea is very striking and beautiful at the same time.  Since I was little i have liked all kinds of natural phenomena, however dangerous they may be, they do not scare me. I think that all the manifestations of nature, however potent they may be, are something to be enjoyed. I also love the images of erupting volcanoes, especially the eruption of the Villarrica volcano in 2015, but as the professor talked about volcanoes I could not choose the same theme. Nature is the only thing we can not fight, we just to have to adapt, and respect her.

Well, it is a difficult question, that´s why I did not vote for this topic. I like a lot of bands, especially Coldplay and U2, but this time I will choose U2. This is a rock band and was formed in 1976 and consist of: Bono (vocalist), the Edge (guitarist), Larry Mullen Jr. (drummer) and Adam Clayton (bassist).  Why I like this? Because it´s a band that has managed to stay in force despite having 40 years on the stages and have songs that have a very deep lyrics and difficult to match (for example where the streets have no name), and also obviously for the interpretive quality of each one of its members. The voice of Bono is not as good as when he was young, because in his best years he had a very powerful voice, but still can reach very high notes despite his age. My favourite piece of technology definitely is my cell phone. I got my first cell phone when I was 10 years old (i´m not sure), and I don´t remember model of this cell phone. I got my actual cell phone thanks to my work. I worked in Bravissimo since July 2015 to January 2016, and with the money I earned I payed a pre-university, and also I spend money in buy my cell phone. I bought my cell phone online, in the afternoon of December 24 2015, and arrived on December 28. I use my cell phone for everything, for example to speak in WhatsApp,call to my family or friends, see videos on Youtube, check my e-mail, take pictures, play games, listen music, to inform me about the university, etc. Is an extremely useful tool. I use my cell phone all the day, i can´t live without this. It has become an essential part of my life. Well, it was a bit difficult to choose this programme. When i was younger, I wanted to study medicine, but also I wanted to study Biochemistry. I finally choose Chemistry and Pharmacy, because I love everything related to medicinal drugs, and because in Biochemistry there is a little labor field, and I realized that medicine was not really what I liked the most. Hello, my name is Cristóbal Soto Castillo, and I´m 20 years old. I was born on August 8 th 1996, in Santiago. I live in Cerrillos, with my mother and my two grandparents. I don´t have  brothers, and I don´t have childrens, and I don´t plan to have them, at least for now. I studied in Don Orione´s School between 2003 and 2014.
